The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Academic and Health Affairs Division is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) under the Nursing Innovation Grant Program (NIGP) to support eligible initial RN licensure programs in their efforts to mitigate the ongoing challenges related to the state’s nursing pipeline. NIGP was established to provide grant funding to eligible institutions that propose to address the shortage of registered nurses (RN) in Texas by developing or expanding new activities and projects that promote innovation in the preparation of initial RN licensure nursing students and of faculty who may teach in initial RN licensure programs. Funding will support programs that address the shortage of registered nurses and/or qualified faculty by promoting innovation in one or more of the following areas: education, recruitment, and retention.

THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (hereinafter referred to as “MOU”) is made and entered into by and between the Institution (hereinafter referred to as “College”), and Independent School District, (hereinafter ISD), pursuant to the authority granted in compliance with section 56.079 (d) of the Texas Education Code.
WHEREAS, the parties to this MOU desire to jointly participate in a work study mentorship program to; (1) mentor high school students at the ISD; (2) counsel high school students at the GO Centers or similar high school-based recruiting centers designed to improve student access to higher education; or (3) support student interventions at the College that are focused on increasing completion of degrees or certificates.
