The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Academic and Health Affairs Division is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) under the Nursing Innovation Grant Program (NIGP) to support eligible initial RN licensure programs in their efforts to mitigate the ongoing challenges related to the state’s nursing pipeline. NIGP was established to provide grant funding to eligible institutions that propose to address the shortage of registered nurses (RN) in Texas by developing or expanding new activities and projects that promote innovation in the preparation of initial RN licensure nursing students and of faculty who may teach in initial RN licensure programs. Funding will support programs that address the shortage of registered nurses and/or qualified faculty by promoting innovation in one or more of the following areas: education, recruitment, and retention.

GEER II-NIGP is a competitive grant program, and funds awarded will support institutional programs developing innovative solutions to increase nursing preceptors and simulation coordinators and alleviate the shortage of nursing faculty, which currently inhibits the ability to educate more nurses in the state.
