The Behavioral Health Innovation Grant Program (BHIP) is established to support the development and expansion of innovative programs that recruit, train, and retain mental health professionals or professionals in related fields to address behavioral health workforce shortages across the state of Texas. The program is designed to provide funding to eligible institutions of higher education that implement strategies to strengthen the behavioral health workforce pipeline and improve access to care, including rural and medically underserved areas.
The Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program supports the development or expansion, and administration of accredited forensic psychiatry one-year fellowship training programs at health-related institutions in Texas. The $5 million in total competitive grant funding is available for two years to support the salaries and benefits associated with the implementation of the training program, in addition to other resources that are used to develop and maintain the program.
