Eligible applicants are Texas public junior colleges, public state colleges and public technical institutes.

The Awarded Applicant shall submit an email notification form for budget changes to its assigned grant advisor at least 15 days prior to a change or action that: 1. Notifies the THECB of any potential conflict of interest that arises prior to or during the grant period; 2. Changes to one or more cost items within Budget Schedules A, B, D, F and G, and does not change the scope of the Grant.

Planning Grants were established to increase the number of GME first-year residency positions in Texas by increasing the number of entities engaged in the training of residents. These grants encourage new partnerships between applicants and existing GME programs for the purpose of developing new residency programs. The program provides support for hospitals, medical schools, and community-based, ambulatory patient care centers in Texas interested in creating a new residency program with first-year residency positions.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Academic and Health Affairs Division is pleased to announce a Request for Applications (RFA) under the Nursing Innovation Grant Program (NIGP) to support eligible initial RN licensure programs in their efforts to mitigate the ongoing challenges related to the state’s nursing pipeline. NIGP was established to provide grant funding to eligible institutions that propose to address the shortage of registered nurses (RN) in Texas by developing or expanding new activities and projects that promote innovation in the preparation of initial RN licensure nursing students and of faculty who may teach in initial RN licensure programs. Funding will support programs that address the shortage of registered nurses and/or qualified faculty by promoting innovation in one or more of the following areas: education, recruitment, and retention.
