Institutions that are eligible for Title III funds from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) are exempt from the Texas College Work-Study (TCWS) and Work-Study Student Mentorship Program (WSMP) matching requirement that participating entities (e.g., institution, nonprofit employer, school district) must provide a certain percentage of an employed student's wages. To qualify for the exemption, institutions must submit a current copy of the Title III Eligibility Letter to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Texas College Work-Study (TCWS) FY 2019 Unused Funds Reminder Memo

As a reminder, the deadline to return unused or ineligible 2018-19 (FY 2019) Texas College Work-Study (TCWS) funds to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) was May 31, 2019. Institutions that have not returned funds may have the opportunity to transfer remaining TCWS funds into an eligible state grant program through the Authority to Transfer process.

Texas College Work-Study (TWCS) FY 2020 Program Guidelines

The Texas College Work-Study (TCWS) Program is authorized by TEC, Chapter 56, Subchapter E, Section 56.073. Rules establishing procedures to administer the subchapter can be found in Title 19 of the TAC, Chapter 22, Subchapter G. The purpose of the TCWS Program is to provide employment to eligible students with financial need. These positions are funded by a combination of state appropriations and funds from employers.
